Retailers need to optimize their logistics processes in order to meet the high demands in terms of shipping speed, costs and transparency. Using the marketplaces' in-house fulfilment services is often associated with high fees and reduced control over shipping processes. In addition, retailers often have to store stock in different locations, which increases the risk of overstocking and stock shortages. In-house fulfilment services often offer little scope for customization such as personalized packaging or additional services that could promote greater customer loyalty.
