How do I calculate the girth for shipping tires with GLS?
Maximum dimensions & weight (tire shipping):
- Height:
max. 60 cm - Width:
max. 80 cm - Length:
max. 200 cm - Belt size:
max. 300 cm - Weight:
max. 40 kg (Express: 50 kg)
Girth measurement calculation (The belt size determines whether your shipment complies with the maximum permitted dimensions (300 cm)):
- Tire with rim (single): Belt dimension = 2 × height + 2 × width + longest side
- Car tires without rims:
- Single: 3 × outer Ø + 2 × width
- bundle of 2: 3 × outer Ø + 4 × width
- Motorcycle/bicycle tires (bundles): Belt size = 3 × outer Ø + bundle height (bundle height ≤ tire diameter)
Maximum permissible: 300 cmweight: up to 40 kg (Express: 50 kg).
Example (245/40 R18):
- Belt size single: approx. 245 cm
- Belt size bundle of 2: approx. 294 cm
→ is still within the permissible limit.
